As the weather gets warmer and the days get longer, I get ready to migrate north to my summer home of Door County. It's not all fun and games, though, I go there to work. The scenery is great, and the towns are fun, and the people are warm and accommodating...it's a great place to spend time. I work there every summer (since 2006--hard to believe!) to pay for my exceptionally erratic spending habits.
Even with working 70ish hours a week, I have more time for my writing during the summer than during the rest of the year combined. Instead of struggling through a few pages every other night, I consistently turn out content. It was just last summer that I finished the final draft of Out of Arms Reach even though it seems like years ago.
It's hard to believe that a year has past since I wrote the last page of my first manuscript. It's even harder to believe, or come to terms with, that that same manuscript is still sitting on my desk in the process of being edited. Granted, this time around the editing process takes a hell of a lot longer because we (my editor and I) have been critiquing every single thing about the book in hopes that it will help it be published.
Here's what to expect once June finally hits and summer is here:
1.) Regular blog posts--I finally found a calender gadget that will allow me to post regularly. Should be fun!
2.) The release of my second Writer's Digest competition piece (coming May 15th)
3.) Updates on publishing
4.)Book reviews!
5.) My cover letter, agent responses, and more.
Stay tuned, people. Even though summer is a crazy time, at least in Wisconsin it is, the level of writing that I will be doing is going to notch up all summer, just like the temperature.
Cheers!
